We all know what is feels like. The sore muscles after a heavy day in the gym. This is
Personally, I enjoy this kind of pain, as I know the reason behind it. But lots of people hate it. Luckily for these individuals, there are ways to diminish the pain from sore muscles.
What? To reduce soreness or more specifically, delayed onset muscle soreness, I suggest you do more gym sessions? That´s right. This is based on a personal experience, and it work´s better than anything I have ever tried, in order to finally get rid of DOMS. As I highlighted in the beginning of this post, DOMS are a lot worse if you only hit the gym every now and then. As your body adapts to working out, you will start to feel less sore. Keep in mind that DOMS being an indicator of an effective workout session is a myth with no truth to it. If you want to get rid of DOMS once and for all, start going to the gym more often.
Get A Massage
Not only is a good massage a brilliant way to relax and reduce stress but it can also do some good for your DOMS, or at least the recovery process. Massage will increase blood flow and thereby speed up the removal of inflammatory chemicals that causes the soreness. Personally, I think this works more because it takes the focus away from the pain caused by DOMS and not because it directly reduces DOMS. Lots of people do, however, claim it has a positive effect in reducing DOMS.
Drink more Coffee
This is probably my favorite advice and may be one of the very good reasons why I never really have severe DOMS. Studies have shown that using coffee as a "pre-workout" drink can reduce DOMS and fatigue by nearly half! This is truly significant! Not only that but the caffeine from coffee will give you a bit of energy to push harder in the gym. One common advice as a way to treat DOMS is to rehydrate and while there might be some truth to that, drinking coffee somewhat confronts that very advice, as coffee won't rehydrate you, but dehydrate you. So while getting two cups of coffee before going to the gym is a very good idea, make sure to get yourself plenty of water during and after your workout session as well.
Seeing people at the gym wearing super tight clothes is not unusual. Obviously, lots of people do this to show off and proudly present the fit body they have been working hard to get. Besides from this, there actually is a solid reason to use very tight clothes which is that very tight clothes are believed to help push blood through your veins. This will slow down fatigue and enhance recovery. The downside to wearing this type of clothes is it´s not really that comfortable, but that is just my personal opinion. I guess you can get used to anything.
There are lots of ideas out there on how to treat DOMS, and most of it is based on hot air more than facts. You will often see ideas shared like, stretching, make sure to sleep, get a hot batch, etc. I think it´s fair to say that most of the ideas I have seen shared on this topic might do some good from a healthy lifestyle perspective, but they won't have any direct impact on your DOMS.Try the above listed four ideas for something that actual will help you with your DOMS.
